Discussion:

The overcast skies that we experienced earlier this morning are clearing out of the area. This is due to a weak cold frontal passage that led to a wind direction change from SW to NW. The clear skies overnight will lead to overnight temperatures dropping into the low 20s. Overnight fog will also not be out of the question. This is because we have moisture on the ground due to the snow over along with the previously mentioned clearing skies. A ridge of high pressure will move into the area for Friday and into the weekend which will shift our winds to out of the SW which will give us generally sunny skies and temperatures near seasonal values.

Technical Discussion (The nerdy stuff we are discussing in class)

WPC indicates preference towards general model blend. We will be using the GFS 06Z model for this forecast.

Right now in Mid-Missouri it's partly sunny with temps in the mid 30s. Overnight a weak cold front moved through the region shifting winds from the SW to the NW. Taking in consideration that temps were already cool, no activity other than the wind shift occurred.

Skies will clear throughout the day as clouds move out of the area and we begin to be under the influence of an upper level ridge. Also a surface high currently located in southwestern Kansas will move its way into Missouri contributing to clear skies for the rest of the day.

Overnight winds will be light and the sky will be clear leading to another chilly night. Saturation near the surface from the recent snow could lead to some patchy fog in the morning, especially in low lying area.

Winds will remain northwesterly causing cold air advection at the surface. However, as the ridge moves out of the area winds begin to shift to the SW. According to the GFS, veering will begin at 03Z on Saturday. This warm air advection will provide a pleasant Fall day on Saturday.
