Discussion:
Cold front continues moving through the area and rain dwindles as we head into the mid-morning. Clouds will linger as we head into the evening hours. The clouds begin breaking up as we head into the day Saturday where partly cloudy skies are to be expected. By Sunday, cloud cover is expected to break leading to clear skies. We will see an increase in winds starting Friday night and lingering through Sunday morning.  Because of the winds, our already cooler than average temperatures will feel colder Saturday morning.

Technical Discussion (The nerdy stuff we are discussing in class!)

The vertically stacked low will be the main focal point for this forecast period. This low pressure system becomes mainly stationary through Saturday evening before moving off to the northeast and out of our forecast area. With this low pressure system we experience a pressure change of 7mb in the time just after the cold front passes. This indicates that this is a strong low pressure system. Strong cold air advection ahead of and along the cold front will contribute to the 20 plus temperature drop seen from yesterday. Behind the rain showers associated with the cold front, clouds will linger. They could begin to break up as we head into the overnight hours. This could contribute to even cooler temperatures. This could potentially be the first freeze of the season as we will be hovering around 32F as an overnight low.

Saturday we expect to feel much cooler than the actual temperature due to wind increase and speed because of the low level jet. We are expecting winds sustaining at 15 knots. The southwesterly winds will ultimately kick off a warming trend for the end of our weekend. Sunday will be the more comfortable day of the weekend thanks to more sunshine and these southwesterly winds warming the area.
