Discussion:
Foggy conditions Tuesday morning will give way to a cloudy afternoon with ample moisture present over Columbia today. Afternoon highs while tempered by cloud cover will reach the upper 70's/lower 80's late this afternoon. Rain holds off until after midnight tonight though a rapid increase in rainfall is possible after 3AM due to a shortwave trough trekking through the Midwest bringing a mesoscale convective system (MCS) into central Missouri Wednesday morning. Thunderstorms are likely Wednesday afternoon. Rainfall totals vary between 0.75 and 2+ inches of accumulation that will be dependent upon the track of this MCS. A soggy Wednesday will keep afternoon highs in the 70's. Rainfall will taper off by Wednesday evening with clouds gradually clearing Thursday morning. Sun returns to Columbia Thursday afternoon with afternoon highs rebounding into the lower 80's
