Looks like a perfect week to study outside as it will be sunny and mild! No rain in sight for the final week of classes so enjoy the weather and prepare for finals.

Technical Discussion:

The main characters for this forecast period will be our cwa on the back side of a trough, a ridge propagating in from the West and HPS dominating the Midwest. All of these factors will contribute to the sunny skies that lay ahead.

Today the CWA sits on the back side ofa trough and LPS to the Northeast around the great lake's region causing a lot of active weather. The upper-level maps do not support any active weather as the ingredients for that are not there. Divergence aloft is zero, strong bands of circulation can be found but do to the Northwesterly flow that is driving cool dry air into our region there is nothing for the lifting mechanism to act on. A HPS can be seen in Nebraska and will propagate towards Missouri in the coming days. Winds at the surface will be 10-15mph from the Northwest. That being said, a stable atmosphere is at hand giving way to sunny skies and daytime temperatures reaching just above 60 with nighttime temperatures dipping into the low 40s.

Tuesday will bring much of the same as the incoming ridge slowly makes it way towards Missouri it brings more areas of high pressure keeping the atmosphere stable. The LPS to the Northeast is shooting some strong areas of circulation over the CWA Tuesday morning but again the northwesterly flow is only bringing dry air leaving little room for cloud formation or any precipitation. The HPS will continue to push through the region a very slow pace leaving sunny skies again with highs in mid 60s and nighttime temperatures in the low 40s

Wednesday the ridge is directly over Missouri with a HPS dominating the Midwest now for 3 days, northwesterly flow continues as Missouri sits in a zone of consistent weather. Some moisture is seen off to the North in Nebraska, kansas, and a small corner of Oklahoma but doesn't bring any concern to the cwa at this time. High temperatures will continue to climb as Wednesday warms up into the upper 60s.

Future forecasters should keep their eye on Thursday as more moisture is present at the 850mb level. As a warm front passes through the region bringing a southerly wind shift you could expect to see some more moisture being advected into the area and LPS moving in from the Northwest.
