Technical Discussion:

While both the GFS20 and the NAM12 were in good agreement on with eachtother the GFS20 was chosen due to its placement of a HPS over Nevada and a LPS off the coast of Oregon. To start this week the main event is a dominate HPS that will keep the area dry and sunny for the next couple of days.

At 250mb a shortwave trough has the jet streak placed over the Southeastern states today. A building ridge will bring the jet streak back up over the the midwest. The 500mb map has a LPS passing over the Ohio River valley Monday at 18z. The building ridge heading to the CWA keeps things calms and vorticitcy levels are low.

Through 700mb things are quiet with no moisture to show for the next couple of days. At the 850 level moisture is present into the early morning on Tuesday. The moisture will allow the formation of clouds through today and into the evening ther is a lack of lift keeping precipitation to a few sprinkles if at all. The moisture clears out for Tuesday leaving things dry and sunny. Due to an upper level low over the great lakes region CAA is present today.

Surface maps show our region being dominated by a HPS moving in on Tuesday keeping things quiet. A warm front moves right over Missouri at 18Z Tuesday shifting surface winds from the North to the South. The wind shift will begin driving warmer temperatures and more moisture moving into the midweek.

Temperatures today are the coldest for the week with a high of 39 and a low of 25 due to the CAA being driven by the LPS over the great lakes region. Tuesday temperatures will climb into the mid-40s with a sunny sky and a clear night with a low of 31. Wednesday's high will be driven by the southern winds after the front passes bringing the high to 60.
