Discussion:
Clear skies are going to be the story for the beginning of our weekend in Mid-Missouri. We're going to see lots of sunshine that will lead to warmer temperatures by Saturday, however those warmer temperatures are not going to hang around for long. Sunday morning we start to see a change in our pleasant weather with the formation of fog early in the morning that will clear out and make way for clouds to build in during the afternoon. This change is coming ahead of our next cold front which is slotted to arrive late Sunday night into early Monday morning.

Technical Discussion (The nerdy stuff we are discussing in class!)

We have a strong high pressure system sitting over the area throughout the day today. This high pressure system will keep clouds out of the area, allowing for sunshine, however we will still remain cooler than average on Friday. This pressure system begins moving out of the area overnight tonight into Saturday.

On the backside of that high pressure system, we expect winds to shift out of the south on Saturday. This wind shift will contribute to warmer temperatures for Saturday afternoon. The winds will shift again to become south-westerly in the evening on Saturday. Skew-Ts show a radiation inversion which is indicative of fog formation. The combination of these winds that bring in moisture with warmer overnight temperatures will lead to the fog formation that will occur Sunday morning.

The fog Sunday morning will clear out quickly. By the afternoon clouds will begin building ahead of a low pressure system that will move into our area late Sunday night into early Monday morning. Winds will shift to out of the north ahead of the cold front.
