Discussion:

Winter like temperatures have made an appearance in the region all thanks to the cold front that made its way through Thursday night. Temperatures will be dropping into the 20's for Friday night so make sure to break out your coats and hats. The cold will be sticking around for the next couple of days but we will be warming up into the 40's just in time for Sunday.

Technical Discussion:

The upper-level jet is present over the region following the cold front that made its way through the CWA late Thursday bringing with it CAA into the area and giving the region a taste of winter like temperatures. Friday night, a short-wave embeded in a long-wave trough over the central U.S. moves in and passes just to the south of the CWA from Texas providing the region with some cloud cover. Although the region has significant vorticity at 500mb, there is not enough low-level moisture or WAA to support any sort of precipitation in the CWA.

Saturday will be our coldest day of the week as the trough moves off to the NE and CAA cools our temperatures into the 30's for a high with our low possibly entering into the teens. Overall Saturday will be cold and mostly sunny with some clouds still lingering in the area and clearing up a bit as we head into the overnight hours as high pressure moves in and we enter the upper-level jet once again.

The NAM and GFS both agree on WAA entering the region around 09z Sunday as we transition from a trough to a ridge warming our temperatures up to the 40's and bringing back the partly cloudy sky for sunday night.
