Discussion:

A much more neutral weather pattern is expected the next few days. Cooler temperatures in the mid 30s will remain overnight prompting a Frost Advisory. Temperatures will begin to warm back up to the low/mid 60s throughout the weekend.

Technical Discussion:

The main focus of this forecast is to monitor this neutral weather pattern. When comparing the NAM and GFS, both have been successful in modeling the upper-level flow. However, temperatures have been more accurately predicted by the GFS which will be the model used in this forecast.

The remnants of the jet streak responsible for the Tuesday thunderstorms is still hovering over central and northern Missouri. By Saturday afternoon, this will continue northeastward resulting in a more zonal pattern. After evaluating soundings, upper-level moisture could result in high clouds throughout the forecast period. However, little to no moisture will be present at 700mb down to the surface.

Throughout Thursday, winds have shifted from a more northerly flow to a westerly flow. Before temperatures can warm up, overnight Thursday should expect mid 30s promoting a Frost Advisory. These winds will continue to shift into southwesterly flow Friday resulting in slightly warmer temperatures. Southerly winds become dominant by Saturday leaving behind even warmer temperatures.
