Discussion:

Great weather is expected for Missouri this weekend. This is due to high pressure setting up over the region that will remain with us for the remainder of the weekend. Warmer air from the Gulf of Mexico will keep our temperatures above average.

Technical Discussion (The nerdy stuff we are discussing in class):

On this forecast period GFS model was used because it was more accurate when locating the surface low pressure system west coast of the US.

At 250 mb, Missouri is on the downstream of a ridge. Zonal jet streak is approaching. A little bit of divergence happening over mid-MO.

At 500 mb, after a copule of days of stronger circulation, the system has been weakened and it leaves MO with little circulation, in this forecasting period.

For the lower level, 700 mb, high pressure system developing over north of MO. This high pressure system weaking and replacing with a trough. Moisture content is low enough not to have precipitation.

Similar situation will be described for 850-mb level. As the the high pressure system weakens, the southerly wind will be coming into the region bring moist air until Sunday night.

Weak baroclinic environment can be seen on the surface plot, for the end of this forecast period.

GFS soundings suggest the weekend is pretty sunny with warmer temperature values.
