Discussion:

This week's warming trend continues with plenty of sunshine. Clouds will return to the forecast Thursday afternoon. However, we expect to remain dry throughout this forecast period. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 80s and lows will be warmer as well, staying in the upper 50s. All in all, a beautiful end to the work week.

Technical Discussion (The nerdy stuff we are discussing in class)

A blend of the GFS and NAM was used for this forecast. Temperatures were taken from SREF and GEFS plumes.

Zonal flow today will lead to warm air advection, increasing temperatures to 10-15 degrees above average. Our warmest day of the week. This flow will also provide clear skies with ample sunshine. These clear skies will persist overnight. These clear skies with light winds will provide radiational cooling in the overnight hours dropping the temperatures back to the mid 50's.

Thursday zonal flow becomes southwesterly. this southwesterly flow will contribute to warm temperatures as well as building clouds throughout the afternoon. Skies will become partly cloudy and remain that way through Friday. These clouds will keep temperatures slightly cooler than Wednesday but still well above average. RH values remain low so we expect to stay dry through the forecast period.

Friday we will see an increase in cloud cover as the remnants from Hurricane Delta will provide increased moisture and RH values. The remnants from Delta will track through southeast Missouri. No precipitation is expected for mid-Missouri.
