Discussion:

A warm end to the first full week of October. A warm front is moving into the area to keep skies mainly clear and temperatures higher than average. Some high clouds today will dot our crystal-clear blue skies we have seen previously. Friday will be very similar today with increasing winds from the South. Going into Saturday, clouds are increasing but it will remain dry for the second football game of the season.

Technical Discussion (The nerdy stuff we are discussing in class)

This forecast is rather boring because it is persistent. A minor front moved through the area last night with high pressure building in behind it. GEFS plumes and GFS forecasts were used to create this forecast.

Starting at the top of the atmosphere, the jet stream is ridging in the western United States and minor troughing over Maine and Eastern Canada. Over the next few days, this wave pattern becomes zonal.

For Missouri, the high pressure is going to dominate, keeping temperatures stable and any precipitation away from us. High clouds from Hurricane Delta have begun to move in as the hurricane makes landfall in the next day.

Temperatures remain higher than normal due to the southerly flow. This flow will continue through the weekend and will last until Delta dissipates. Winds will be from the South throughout the end of the week and will be breezy at 10-15 knots.
