Discussion:

Clear skies will persist into Thursday night until Friday morning. Friday afternoon temperatures will continue to stay in the low 80's. Clouds will start to appear later in the day and linger in the sky into the night. Saturday morning could see some fog, but it will dissipate before the Mizzou football game. As for the actual game, anticipate calm skies that will turn partly cloudy as Sunday approaches, and similar temperatures to the days prior. By Sunday afternoon, clouds from Hurricane Delta remnants will continue to accumulate leaving the skies mostly cloudy. Finally temperatures will decrease slightly from previous days.

Technical Discussion (The nerdy stuff we are discussing in class)

Much like with the previous forecasts, the main concern for this period is the above average temperatures and how the remnants of Delta will impact the forecast going forward. Used a blend of the GFS and NAM while consulting SREF and GEFS for temperatures.

Clouds have been and will be on the increase as upper level moisture being brought in by Delta will approach the region. Expect slightly warmer temperatures tonight than last night due to increase in cloud cover. Southwesterly winds in the lower levels will continue to dominate through the period keeping our temperature on the increase.

Friday the atmosphere becomes thermodynamically unstable by late afternoon. GFS and NAM Skew-Ts show a profile almost indicative of convection, but seeing as there is no large scale forcing, will only see scattered cumuliform clouds as the afternoon progresses. Friday night model soundings show a drying out of an already fairly dry column. Still went with partly cloudy skies due to skepticism with how the models are handling cloudiness associated with what will eventually be remnants of Delta.

Saturday morning GFS soundings show saturation at the surface with a good radiation inversion. A 10 knot wind at the surface may help to squelch widespread fog development, but would not be surprised to see isolated early morning fog especially in low-lying valleys. Any fog that does develop will burn off quickly after sunrise and leave pleasant conditions going into the day.

Saturday night into Sunday will finally see a dying down of southwesterly winds and allow temperatures to fall more for Sunday during the day. Clouds out ahead of the next system in the Western CONUS will begin to infiltrate the region by Sunday afternoon.
